Official Language Exams organized by the Centre for East Asian Studies
Japanese-Language Proficiency Test
Since 2006, the Centre for East Asian Studies has organised the Japan Foundation's Official Japanese Language Proficiency Test, Nihongo Nōryoku Shiken (NŌKEN), in December at the Cantoblanco Campus of the Autonomous University of Madrid. The exam is always held on the first Sunday in December.
The usual exam registration period opens in September. This year, 2025, the registration period will be from 1 September to 30 September. Registration can be completed at the following link: https://www.jlpt.es/Inicio.sca?id=1

Other Official Language Exams
Below are links to the pages of other Oriental language exams held in Spain in which the CEAO is not part of the organization.
• Chinese Language Aptitude Test ( HSK). It is the only standardized Chinese exam for non-native speakers. It is organized by the Centre for Language Education and Cooperation (CLEC), a non-governmental organization affiliated with the Ministry of Education of the People's Republic of China. In Spain, it is managed by the Confucius Institute.
• Japanese Kanji Aptitude Test . 日本漢字能力検定試験 ( Nihon Kanji Nōryoku Kentei Shiken ) . Known as Kanken, it is an exam that evaluates correct knowledge of kanji , both reading and writing. You can evaluate yourself in Barcelona, Madrid or Seville.
